CRecTech-Pertamina Project Named Among 26 Agreements at Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat

The CRecTech-Pertamina biofuel project has been named as one of the 26 cooperation agreements announced during the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders' Retreat, held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on 6 July 2026.

The annual Leaders' Retreat is the highest-level bilateral platform between Singapore and Indonesia, bringing both leaders and their delegations together to review progress, align priorities, and advance new areas of cooperation. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong described the Retreat as a unique feature of the Singapore-Indonesia relationship, reflecting close ties, mutual trust, respect, and understanding between the two countries.

The 2026 Retreat was led by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and President Prabowo Subianto. According to the Prime Minister's Office Singapore, both leaders reaffirmed the deep and longstanding partnership between Singapore and Indonesia and welcomed progress since the previous Retreat, including new agreements across environmental cooperation, carbon credits collaboration, digital cooperation, and cross-border electricity trading.

ANTARA's full list of agreements identifies the CRecTech project as "Cooperation on the development of biogas into biomethanol between Pertamina Power Indonesia and CrecTech Singapore." It appears as item 15 under the additional agreements, following the eight documents exchanged at the ceremony, making it the 23rd agreement in the combined list of 26.

For CRecTech, this recognition places the Sumatra bio-methanol pilot within a broader bilateral push toward green economy cooperation and energy transition. The project aims to convert biogas from palm oil mill effluent into bio-methanol, supporting a lower-carbon pathway for fuel and chemical production while strengthening Singapore-Indonesia industrial collaboration.

The inclusion of the CRecTech-Pertamina project at the Leaders' Retreat underscores the strategic relevance of scalable bio-methanol production for Southeast Asia, especially as both countries deepen cooperation in energy security, renewable energy, supply-chain resilience, and sustainable industry.
