CRecTech Selected as Energy Transition Finalist in Climate Impact Innovations Challenge 2026

CRecTech has been selected from more than 850 applications across approximately 60 countries as a finalist in Indonesia's largest climate innovation technology competition.

CRecTech is one of nine finalists advancing to the Grand Finale of the Climate Impact Innovations Challenge (CIIC) 2026. The company was selected for the Energy Transition track alongside Phase Two Chemicals and Sun Ice Energy.

CIIC 2026 is presented by East Ventures, Temasek Foundation, and Tencent. Now in its fourth edition, the challenge connects climate technology companies with mentorship, ecosystem partners, and opportunities to pilot solutions in Indonesia.

Turning Palm Oil Biogas into Lower-Cost Bio-Methanol

CRecTech's finalist solution converts palm oil biogas into bio-methanol. According to the CIIC announcement, the technology can lower production costs by 50% and reduce emissions by up to 93% compared with conventional production pathways.

The selection recognises the potential of CRecTech's proprietary catalysts and modular process design to transform methane- and carbon-dioxide-rich waste biogas into a valuable low-carbon fuel and chemical feedstock. By locating production closer to distributed waste resources, CRecTech aims to make renewable methanol more accessible while supporting decarbonisation and circular use of agricultural waste.

Advancing to the Grand Finale

The nine finalists were chosen through a rigorous evaluation process from applications spanning the Energy Transition, Food & Nature Solutions, and Circular Economy tracks. Over the coming months, the finalists will receive guidance on strategic partnerships, go-to-market planning, commercialisation, and pitching.

CIIC 2026 offers a total prize pool of Rp15 billion to support the piloting and development of climate solutions in Indonesia. Finalists may also qualify for a special award involving pre-purchased carbon credits valued at up to US$1 million.

CRecTech will present its final pitch at the CIIC 2026 Grand Finale on 6 October 2026, held as part of the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum 2026 in Jakarta.

Reaching the finalist stage is an important opportunity for CRecTech to deepen partnerships in Indonesia and accelerate the deployment of its waste-biogas-to-bio-methanol technology at commercial scale.
