CRecTech Featured in Singapore-Indonesia 6WG Green Economy Cooperation
CRecTech was featured in the official outcomes of the 16th Singapore-Indonesia Six Bilateral Economic Working Groups Ministerial Meeting (6WG MM), held in Jakarta on 9 June 2026 and co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry Singapore press release highlighted the CRecTech-Pertamina biofuel project as part of Singapore and Indonesia's green economy cooperation. The project will co-develop Indonesia's first biogas-to-bio-methanol pilot in North Sumatra, converting biogas from excess palm oil mill effluent into bio-methanol.
In the release, CRecTech was described as a deep-tech venture from the National University of Singapore turning waste biogas, biomass, and CO₂ into green bio-methanol, a sustainable marine fuel. The feature also noted CRecTech's backing by global partners including Breakthrough Energy.
DPM Gan's remarks emphasized building resilient supply chains and creating new opportunities in areas such as the digital economy, green economy, industrial infrastructure, and agri-tech. He also described Singapore as "a reliable and valuable partner to Indonesia" as both countries look toward 60 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
In his LinkedIn post following the meeting, DPM Gan highlighted the CRecTech-Pertamina biofuel pilot among the projects advancing green economy cooperation between Singapore and Indonesia.
A successful pilot at Sei Mangkei is expected to provide the technical and commercial basis for evaluating a broader rollout with Pertamina's affiliate network across Sumatra and Kalimantan, while supporting Indonesia's decarbonisation and energy security goals.
