CRecTech is proud to be one of only two projects selected for the inaugural cohort of the Breakthrough Energy Fellows - Southeast Asia
CRecTech is honored to announce its selection as one of two projects in the inaugural cohort of the Breakthrough Energy Fellows - Southeast Asia (BE Fellows - SEA) program, unveiled during the Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH). Organized by Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), SWITCH serves as a premier deep-tech innovation platform. This milestone underscores CRecTech’s commitment to addressing the urgent need for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors like maritime shipping through innovative renewable fuel solutions. Co-founders Lim Kang Hui and Haw Kok Giap were specially mentioned in the keynote speech by Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister (DPM), DPM Heng Swee Keat, for being selected to join the first cohort of the Breakthrough Energy Fellows - SEA programme. Breakthrough Energy Fellows program, founded by Breakthrough Energy—an initiative backed by Bill Gates—focuses on accelerating the development of critical climate technologies. BE Fellows – Southeast Asia (BE Fellows – SEA), launched in collaboration with Temasek and Enterprise Singapore, marks the start of the Breakthrough Energy Fellows program’s first regional hub. As part of the inaugural Southeast Asia cohort, CRecTech will receive:
One-year accelerator program to reach critical milestones
Funding: Up to US$500K in R&D funding
Hands-on support for technical and commercialization hurdles
Global Collaboration: Access to a network of more than 100 innovators across the US, Europe, and the UK from Breakthrough Energy Fellows’ current and graduated cohorts.
“Being selected to join BE Fellows validates the need to address the technological gaps to decarbonize the maritime sector,” said Lim Kang Hui, Co-Founder & CEO of CRecTech. “Through the program, we will advance our technology readiness level, moving closer to demonstrating our solution and establishing a suitable supply value chain to deploy our renewable bio-methanol technology.”
CRecTech’s participation in the BE Fellows - SEA program marks a pivotal step in its journey to revolutionize the renewable fuels industry and decarbonize the maritime sector.
At CRecTech, we are working to make renewable methanol fuel more affordable for the maritime sector to accelerate their transition toward net zero CO2 emissions, by using a novel catalytic technology that simplifies the operational process and production cost of converting biogas into bio-methanol. By harnessing regional collaborations and global resources, the company is well-positioned to scale its innovative bio-methanol technology and make a significant impact in the fight against climate change.
